Erfurt/Jena: Enginsight GmbH, based in Jena, develops and sells an innovative, autonomously acting monitoring platform that recognises dependencies between IT resources and identifies the critical paths, risks and hazards as well as security vulnerabilities for servers and websites. Entire IT landscapes can be analysed and monitored in terms of security, availability and stability. From the customer portal to the networked production plant, from the outside (internet) as well as from the inside (internal company network).
Enginsight is pursuing a new approach, using algorithms and artificial intelligence to carry out this monitoring autonomously — i.e. largely fully automatically. This makes it possible not only to be informed if something is down or defective, but also to gain insights into the infrastructure itself and discover dependencies or critical security gaps that were previously unknown.
Recently, the two-member founding team was able to close the seed financing round and in this context was able to win bm|t (bm‑t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen gmbh) as lead investor and Paysmark Verwaltungs- und Beteiligungsgesellschaft mbH and Brandenburg Ventures GmbH as co-investors.
Why holistic monitoring?
Currently, there are many providers on the market who specialise in IT monitoring and thus create data silos. If data is stored in isolation from certain resources, it is very difficult to find the “red path” between these resources. If, for example, a database server is defective and the company website fails as a result, it is not immediately apparent at first glance that the database is the cause. Enginsight brings together all the data collected and can thus directly provide clues to the root cause.
In addition, proactive security analyses and real-time monitoring of all IT systems with regard to security-relevant issues usually receive little or no attention. IT monitoring also involves a lot of manual effort in IT departments, as administrators have to define the rules themselves. Through the holistic approach of the Enginsight platform, all data on availabilities, security, information about servers and applications are brought together and provide customers with a unique insight into the IT landscape. Bottlenecks, critical resources and possible attack scenarios can be detected in real time. With the help of the autonomous parameterisation, the IT departments are also considerably relieved while the quality of the monitoring is increased at the same time.
How was Enginsight able to convince the investors?
The two young founders know the problems of the market and the solutions of the competitors through their previous work. The technical and commercial competences complement each other perfectly in the team and are based on many years of cooperation. In addition, the first marketable modules of the system are already available. By using the most modern programming systems, the software is flexible, both as a cloud solution and as an on-premise solution installed at customers’ premises.
About Enginsight GmbH:
Enginsight GmbH was founded in November 2016 and specialises in the development of a holistic, intelligent IT monitoring solution. The team is currently working on the implementation of algorithms that allow the autonomous parameterisation of hardware and software components and is providing the first monitoring services via the cloud platform with which the first customers can already successfully protect themselves against cyber attacks, among other things.
