As part of the second round of financing, the Foundation for Technology, Innovation and Research Thuringia (STIFT) and Sparkasse Jena-Saale-Holzland are investing in the Jena-based medical technology start-up Redwave Medical GmbH.
With its software, Redwave Medical aims to measure blood pressure in the aorta (“central blood pressure”) as well as the status of the arteries with the familiar arm cuffs. The central blood pressure is much better suited for the prognosis and therapy of high blood pressure than the previously measured blood pressure in the arm, as it directly affects important organs such as the heart, kidneys or brain. Central blood pressure is thus directly responsible for the risk of heart attack or stroke.
In addition to bm‑t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen gmbh and the business angel Dr. Gerhard Scheuch, both new investors complete the seed financing. With the capital now raised, Redwave plans to complete the invasive validation study and enter the market in 2019.
About Redwave Medical GmbH
Redwave Medical GmbH was founded on 05 May 2017 and specialises in biosignal analysis and medical algorithms. Currently, the company is developing the first algorithm for blood pressure cuffs that enables the determination of central blood pressure (in the aorta) and the checking of the entire arterial status at home.
