- bm|t, Sparkasse Jena-Saale-Holzland and MBG Thüringen have invested a seven-digit sum in the Thuringian environmental-technology firm Revincus GmbH
- This first financing round will fund Revincus´ growth and market development
- Revincus is developing an innovative regenerative energy system for the housing market
Towards a sustainable future and alternative renewable energy sources, bm|t invests along with Sparkasse Jena-Saale-Holzland and MBG Thüringen in Revincus GmbH. Revincus focuses on the recovery of wastewater heat as an innovative energy source in residential housing. The aim of the seven-figure investment round is to further expand the company’s operations and to successfully enter the market.
Innovation in Renewable Energy
Revincus GmbH develops efficient solutions for heat recovery from wastewater. The ‘Revincus System’ is a wastewater heat exchanger with wide applications spanning from residential construction to cruise ships. An international patent has already been filed to protect the system´s ingenuity. «On average, around 75 liters of usable drain-water are produced per person every day, which literally goes unused down the drain. Warm water represents a large part of the total energy demand of residential buildings. Our goal is to use the thermal energy contained in wastewater and thereby to reduce the annual primary energy demand of residential buildings,» said Felix Drechsel, Co-Founder and Head of Research & Development.
Sustainable Operations
In times of a global energy transition, environmentally friendly solutions and sustainable business concepts are of great importance. Revincus GmbH puts sustainability first, both in the development of its products and the purpose of the entire company. Revincus is an R&D‑driven firm in the area of renewable energy. Coupled with modern technology and software, the ‘Revincus System’ meets current energy trends and moves innovative building technology forward. «Sustainable solutions like our wastewater system, are important to meet the biggest challenge of the 21st century – the climate change — and our top priority at Revincus,» said Jeremias Polster, Co-Founder and Head of Sales & Marketing.
Thuringia as an Innovation Hub for Environmental Technology
Revincus GmbH is rooted in Weimar and Jena, a region with strong growth and an excellent ecosystem for innovative environmental technologies. The proximity to the Bauhaus University Weimar and the University of Applied Sciences Erfurt also builds a strong foundation for coöperation and research regarding environmental and scientific topics. «We are very happy to have a strong and internationally connected partner in the region with bm|t, who shares and understands the vision and necessity of innovation in the field of environmental technology,» said Co-Founder Lars Matting.
Investing in a Climate-Neutral Economy
The investment by bm|t together with Sparkasse Jena-Saale-Holzland and MBG Thüringen is a conscious step towards an environmentally efficient future. «With Revincus, we are pleased to welcome another innovative Thuringian clean-tech start-up as Investee Partner» said Katja Butzmann, Senior Investment Manager, bm|t. The Chairman of the Board of Sparkasse Jena-Saale-Holzland, Michael Rabich, added: «We are convinced of the idea and the deep know-how of Revincus and are thrilled to expand it together to become the next market leader for heat recovery systems from drain water in Germany and Europe.»
About Revincus GmbH
The aim of the ‘Revincus System’ is to establish an alternative energy system for residential construction, hotels, gastronomy, industry and cruise ships through careful use of valuable energy resources. Due to an existing innovation gap in energy recovery from accumulating grey water, Revincus strives for the market leader position in the field of drain water energy recovery. Revincus GmbH consists of an interdisciplinary team of founders. The initiators Felix Drechsel and Jeremias Polster joined forces while studying civil engineering at the Bauhaus University in Weimar. In early 2020, Mr. Drechsel and Mr. Polster founded Revincus GmbH together with Mate-Founders UG, consisting of an experienced team of entrepreneurs and experts.
