Financing round raised from a consortium of existing and new investors; bm|t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen gmbh increases lead investment
TrophoSYS GmbH has successfully closed a 7‑figure Series A financing round. In addition to bm‑t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen gmbh (bm|t), which increased its lead investment, Sparkasse Jena-Saale-Holzland, Treuenburg Venture Partners — a Treuenburg Group company, and new private investors invested in the development of innovative processes and equipment for sustainable livestock.
TrophoSYS GmbH aims to introduce a new method for gender-specific animal germ cell separation, thus helping to improve the quality and sustainability of the global food situation while making a significant contribution to reducing emissions. TrophoSYS´ method can be used to target gender-specific breeding in livestock while conserving natural resources. “The meat and dairy industries are subject to global challenges that are inexorably driving the industrialization process. The development of technologies that are first and foremost harmless to health is essential in this sector of industry and is the overriding goal for our product developments. Our focus is on the sustainable use of resources while observing ethical rules and refraining from genetic manipulation,” says Martin Reichenbach, Managing Director of TrophoSYS GmbH. The raised capital enables important development steps on the path from regional research via cooperations with users in the field of animal rearing to the global implementation of the process developed by TrophoSYS.
“We have been accompanying TrophoSYS as lead investor since 2018 and have been able to witness how the company´s concept has matured technologically and, at the same time, how the need for solutions for sustainable livestock breeding that significantly improve upon the current approaches is constantly growing,” emphasizes Katja Butzmann, Senior Investment Manager at bm|t. Torsten Pfeifer, Treuenburg Venture Partners, adds: “With its technical process for germ cell separation, TrophoSYS GmbH is providing a regional and at the same time global impetus for sustainable and gentle rearing of livestock, which is both ecologically and economically forward-looking — a good reason for us to invest.”
